New Station Entrance and Interchange for Network Rail
Robinson Kenning & Gallagher were employed by the contractor Osborne for this South West Trains (SSWT)/Network Rail Project as part of the ‘Access for All’ Project. Providing lift access to all 17 platforms from the existing Station overbridge, the original Brighton Yard Station entrance building was re-opened (closed in 1947) to provide a new step free passenger entrance and exit from the Station.
The project included: redesign of Brighton Yard entrance, redesign of concourse and gateline, a new ticket office and back of house areas, new passenger toilets (including DDA and baby changing), new retail outlets and reconfiguration of forecourt area including, footpaths leading up to the new entrance and new covered bicycle parking.
